Classes

At the moment we are only scheduling individual classes; if this interests you, feel free to call or drop by to set something up! We will be announcing new group class listings in the coming weeks.

Below is a sampling of classes offered this past Fall.

How we work our classes at Wild Fibre is you pre-register simply by calling the store (912.238.0514) or sending us an email at wild.fibre.savannah@gmail.com. Let us know who you want to sign up for the class, and we’ll help you register right then and there! There needs to be a minimum class size met for the event to occur, so sign up with a friend or two in order to ensure the happens. If you have any questions, please just get in contact with us!

Class Listing

Sock It To Me – Kettle Dye and Hand Painting Sock Yarns  – October 26th (12pm-5pm)

5 Hour class, 3 min to 5 max Students, 60.00$ materials included, with 20% off other purchases

In this Saturday afternoon class, we will learn how to dye sock yarns using 2 different techniques used by companies like Malabrigo, Koigu and Madelintosh. Kettle dyeing is a low water immersion process that holds dye in certain areas more heavily than others and creates super saturated tonal blends. Hand-painting is all about mixing the right color and applying it to the yarn in some traditional, and not so traditional, manners. All materials are included in this class, with no experience necessary and you will walk away with 2 totally unique 400 yd sock skeins. Call and speak with instructor Paige for any questions you may have!

KNITTING CLASSES

For this class, we will be knitting the PurlBee’s Sporty Ped; a top-down, anklet sock that in 110 yards teaches you everything you need to know about socks with-out the tedium of knitting the calf and leg for a crew sock. This is a class spread out between 2 weeks, where we have bench mark knitting homework between, with drop –in help as needed and a formal help session between the 2 classes. Just show up knowing how to knit, purl comfortably and maybe a little  experience knitting in the round, because you will be using size 2 needles. Call and speak with instructor Paige for any questions you may have!

Finishing Techniques – Make that Knittin’ Look Goooooodddd – November 2nd (1pm – 5pm)

4 Hour class, 5 min. to 8 max Students, 30.00$, with 20% off materials for your next knitting project

By the end of this class, you will have all the back-ground knowledge to fix your drop stitch mistakes, assemble your various knitting SEAMLESSLY, and then block that sucker into shape! Why the heck do you need to block your knitting? Because it evens out your stitches (making you look like a knitting MACHINE) , adds a few inches into too short sections and can keep those pesky sides from rolling in. Need I Say More?! In this class, you won’t actually be knitting, but everyone will learn to fix stitches, weave in ends, soak, block and finish your work like a pro with the samples and swatches provided. Call and speak with instructor Paige for any questions you may have!

This class is for those who have never used multiple strands of yarn for colorwork before! We’ll start off talking about materials, and why you need certain yarns over other, and move on into knit samples of Fairisle (which is 2 colors worked over a single row with 4 or less stitches between each color change) and week 2 Intarsia (which is 2 colors with several stitches between 2 colors where you may need bobbins) ending with a brief into as to how to use the techniques learned for Colorwork, which has no rhyme or reason and all the yarns at your disposal is the limit! If you choose to start the Whale Watch Hat, you can get all the materials for this project as well as an extra help session for 30% off. Call and speak with instructor Paige for any questions you may have!

    • Hey Donna! We will have some learn to knit classes coming this time of the year. Check back within the week for those scheduled for the new year. We also one on one lessons, which are the same price and time frame, and absolutely new knitters find this very helpful for the constant attention. Any questions, email or call us! wild.fibre.savannah@gmail.com
